NMC'S ARTISTIC POLICY
NMC Recordings exists to record the work of living British composers. NMC champions a wide-ranging and inclusive repertoire and through collaboration with other music and arts organisations seeks to reach the widest possible audience. Quality is central to NMC's mission and we represent the highest standards of British musical work within the means available to us.
OUR ARTISTIC PANEL
NMC's Artistic Panel is drawn from leading composers, artists, curators, writers and other specialists in contemporary music as well as NMC's Executive Producer Colin Matthews, and Executive Director Anne Rushton. Members of the Panel meet 3 times a year to review the recording proposals sent to NMC, and to guide and inform the artistic choices of the label.
The next meeting will be held on 12 February 2014, postponed from 4 December 2013; submission deadlines are below. Dates of future meetings will be added once they have been confirmed.
HOW IT WORKS
The majority of our release schedule, of around 12 albums a year (CD and digital), comes from existing artistic plans; each year, though, we hope to find one or two projects from the recording proposals submitted to us.
We have a two-stage selection process: submitted proposals are initially considered by the Artistic Panel on artistic grounds, and recommended projects are then reviewed by the Trustees at their next available quarterly meeting, to determine how they might fit into NMC's catalogue and future plans. Applicants will be advised of their progress through the selection procedure.
To avoid a long delay in responding to proposals, the Artistic Panel meeting scheduled for 4 December 2013 will be postponed to 12 February 2014.
Please note that our release schedule is currently planned up to December 2014, so we are looking for projects to be realised beyond that date.
