NMC Mission Statement

NMC Recordings is a record label and registered charity, established in 1989 to record and promote the best in British contemporary classical music. It releases around ten titles per year – divided between the main, full-price label, and Ancora, the mid-price label dedicated to reissuing important recordings previously released on other labels. NMC operates a non-deletion policy, so its catalogue stands as an archive of British contemporary music

NMC has a catalogue of over 170 titles featuring 200 living British composers. Its recordings are available worldwide, in CD and digital format, through a network of international distributors and its own website www.nmcrec.co.uk, which since 2006 has also offered digital downloads.

NMC is currently funded by Arts Council England, the Holst Foundation and private donors and trusts

Why support NMC?

As a charity, NMC is non-profit-making; but the economics of recording contemporary music mean that it would be impossible to survive without fundraised income. Changes in our core funding mean we rely more than ever on our Friends' support to underpin our work and to help secure a future for this important cultural force.

'Without NMC, I and many other composers would undoubtedly struggle to find such a level of support and commitment in a recording industry increasingly preoccupied with celebrity and quick profit. So, long may the good work continue! I shall be eternally grateful, both as composer and listener, for NMC's unique commitment to new British music.' Stuart MacRae (composer)

By becoming a Friend of NMC, your donation will help us to record new and recent works by primarily British composers, giving you the opportunity to play a vital role in contributing to the development and realisation of our future activities.
