'BEST CONTEMPORARY RECORDING' IN THE 2011 GRAMOPHONE AWARDS

birty coverWe are delighted to announce that our recording of Sir Harrison Birtwistle's Night's Black Bird has won the 2011 'Contemporary'  Gramophone Award. This is the third time in four years that NMC has won the prestigious award and we are grateful to all involved in making this wonderful release such a success. This recording was made possible in part by Roche, who also commissioned the composition of Night's Black Bird in 2003.

The ceremony was held at London's Dorchester Hotel on 6 October and Harrison Birtwistle was there to accept the award in his inimitable style! Also present were the conductor Ryan Wigglesworth, the producer Andrew Keener, engineer Simon Eadon and representatives from The Hallé, NMC, Birtwistle's publisher Boosey & Hawkes, and his agent Rayfield Allied.
