Trustees & Patrons

The Trustees have the collective role of governing the organisation; ensuring we fulfil our charitable purpose and providing oversight for our strategic and financial planning.  They are recruited from across a number of professions, bringing a large range and level of skill and expertise. 

NMC's Board of Trustees:

Jackie Newbould (Interim Chair): Previously Executive Producer of BCMG, now runs a varied portfolio of arts production and management projects.

Raj Arumugam: Barrister with a broad commercial chancery practice and a keen interest in music, having gained his performance diploma in trumpet from the Royal Academy of Music. 

Christina Coker OBE: Leading exponent in the fields of Education, Music/Arts, Youth & Community, and in Engagement, particularly in establishing policies and approaches to benefit the 'hard to reach'.

Stephen Johns (Chair, Artistic Strategy Committee): Previously Vice-President Artists & Repertoire EMI Classics, now Artistic Director at Royal College of Music.

Richard Lee: Extensive experience in team leadership, strategic thinking, partnership building, comms and organizational management. He is currently Director of Fundraising at the national charity Crisis.

Chris Potts (Chair, Development Sub Committee): Arts & Business Consultant working with the Whitechapel Gallery, Art Fund and Tate Modern amongst others and with a wide knowledge of contemporary music.

Ariel Sommer: Following a variety of roles with major record companies and establishing his own music supervision agency, now works for DCMS as the lead for music and copyright policy-making. 

Judith Serota OBE: Judith ran Spitalfields Festival for over twenty years, commissioning new work and instigating an Education and Community Programme.
