Meeting for the first time in 2002, Bourne, drummer Steve Davis and bassist Dave Kane played a completely improvised set at the Belfast Jazz Festival which became legendary. They followed this auspicious performance with a commission from the Bath Jazz festival - Whatever Happened to Jack Jones and the Early Recordings of Johnny Mathis, and have played regularly on the European festival/gig circuit.

Their immediate musical rapport is extended to the audience, making their performances very special experiences.

In addition to their work as a trio, they have joined forces with tenor virtuoso, Paul Dunmall on many occasions – garnering many acclaimed, in-depth reviews for their powerful performances together.

BDK are currently working with Belfast-Based composer Piers Hellawell on a new work as part of the 2014 New Music Biennial, which will be premiered in 2014. Appearances to include Belfast International Festival, Bristol Jazz Festival, Southbank Centre, and as part of the Commonwealth Games celebrations in Glasgow.
