Jessica Beeston was appointed violist of the Edinburgh Quartet in summer 2011. She enjoys balancing a busy freelance career in London while fulfilling the exciting performing and recording schedule of her internationally established string quartet.
Jessica plays regularly with the Britten Sinfonia, English Chamber Orchestra and Aurora Chamber Orchestra, and is a frequent guest principal player with the London Mozart Players, Scottish Chamber Orchestra and Mid Wales Chamber Orchestra. She also enjoys period work with the Orchestre Revolutionnaire et Romantique and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.
Jessica is in much demand as a chamber music player, also appearing with Hebrides Ensemble, Mid Wales Chamber Soloists directed by Marcia Crayford, Nephele Ensemble, Mendelssohn on Mull Festival, Wye Valley Chamber Music Festival, and many more.
She was the only violist to appear in the string finals of the Royal Overseas League Competition in 2009, having won the Waddell Trust Prize in 2006, and in 2007-2009 performed in venues across the UK as part of Live Music Now duo with pianist Andrew Johnston.
After studies with David Takeno and Krysia Osostovich at the Guildhall School of Music, Jessica spent some years as a student of Thomas Riebl at the Salzburg Mozarteum. She graduated with a first class performance degree and gained much experience in Europe from regular tours and performances with the Salzburg Chamber Soloists, Camerata Salzburg and as a member of the Giraldi String Quartet.
