Artist Description: 

notes inégales was created by Peter Wiegold and David Purser, and consist of some of the finest new music players in Britain devoted equally (or unequally) to improvisation as well as written music, and to working collaboratively with composers and other artists. notes inégales refers to the swung, jazz-like, rhythmic inflections in French baroque music.

Projects have included Hot - an Infernal cabaret with performance poet Murray Lachlan-Young, which went from Donatoni to Miles Davis, Shuffle  based around Christian Marclay's card-based 'Shuffle' and  '..brew - the Miles Davis Project at the ICA in 2008 where leading composers were invited to send postcards from Miles Davis as a basis for improvisation.
