Sir Richard Rodney Bennett is one of the hardest composers to pigeonhole. A versatile musician, he was equally at home playing jazz, writing film scores or composing for the concert hall. His Oscar-nominated film scores include Murder on the Orient Express and Far From the Madding Crowd.
His creativity didn't stop there. He had a long and private passion for making collages (and knitting!) and the CD cover image of his 2010 release on NMC featured one of his creations.
Another great composer who we have sadly lost in 2012.
