David Nicholls

David Nicholls is Professor of Music at the University of Southampton. Born and raised in Birmingham, he studied at Cambridge with Hugh Wood. His compositions have been performed and broadcast in Britain, Europe, North America, southern Africa, and Australia. Among his many commissions are works for the Edinburgh International Festival, Almeida Festival, and Radio 3. In addition to his creative output, he is also a musicologist who has published widely on American music since 1900, and on British rock and pop of the 1960s and '70s.
