Lawrence Dunn

Lawrence Dunn is a composer, pianist, percussionist, improviser, and writer on music. Born in Walthamstow, presently based in Manchester.
Current musical preoccupations include melody and harmony, lightness, disappointment, mnemonics, informality, experiment, sadness, and joy.
Recent pieces have been performed by Quatuor Bozzini, Juliet Fraser, Ilan Volkov and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Sarah Saviet, Plus-Minus Ensemble, Apartment House, Slagwerk den Haag, Philip Thomas, and the Set Ensemble.
Performances have been given at Tectonics Festival, Glasgow; Sound Festival, Aberdeen; Klangspuren Schwaz; the London Contemporary Music Festival; Gaudeamus Musicweek, Utrecht, and broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and Dutch national radio NPO 4. He was shortlisted for the Gaudeamus Award in 2018, and recently featured in The Wire.
He teaches at Huddersfield and Cambridge, and also taught music at Rushey Green Primary School, Catford. Studied at Trinity College of Music (Junior Dept.) and Cambridge, and is presently completing a doctorate at Huddersfield with Bryn Harrison.
Current projects include a new record with ‘Graham Llewellyn’, a small group comprising himself, Michael Perrett and Dave Bainbridge.
