Nenna Gaetano

Gaetano Nenna is composer-performer and narrator in the theatre company TeatrO dell'Orsa of Reggio Emilia. He composed the music for award-winning shows such as Argonauti (music in collaboration with Antonella Talamonti, winner of the MigrArti / MiBACT 2017 Call, 'Dossetti' Prize for Peace, 2017), Facts of numbers (Create with OpenData, 2017), The Gospel seen by a blind man (I Teatri del Sacro Award, 2009).

With the TeatrO dell'Orsa he gives life to the Casa delle Storie, an art residence in the heart of Reggio Emilia, home of the company itself.

He is a Lecturer at the Higher Institute of Musical Studies 'A. Peri' of Reggio Emilia, is the founder and president of the TreTempi Cultural Association, with which he works for the dissemination of musical and artistic culture.

His music is performed in national and international festivals including Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, by ensembles including Ensemble 10/10 (soloists of the Liverpool Symphonic Orchestra, UK), the Zodiac Trio (New York, United States ), the Icarus Ensemble and the New MADE Ensemble (Italy).

He has collaborated with artists such as Omar Galliani and with soloists such as Fabrizio Meloni (1st clarinet 'Alla Scala'). He has conducted orchestras including the Symphony Orchestra of Emilia Romagna and within national and international festivals such as the Verdi Festival (Parma). He has performed as a clarinetist in Europe, Russia and the United States in orchestras and ensembles such as the Symphonica Toscanini with Lorin Maazel, the Icarus Ensemble and the New MADE Ensemble, as well as as a soloist, in duo and in chamber ensembles.

He graduated with honors in clarinet and composition at the Istituto Superiore 'A. Peri' in Reggio Emilia and conducting at the' A. Boito' of Parma. He received his Master's in Composition with Distinction (honors) from the Royal College of Music (London) . He trained with musicians including Gaspare Tirincanti, Neil Thomson, Fabrizio Meloni, Corrado Giuffredi, Pier Narciso Masi, Giacomo Manzoni, Azio Corghi, Kenneth Hesketh and Dai Fujikura.
