Rajmil Fischmann

Rajmil Fischmann is Emeritus Professor at Keele University (UK), where he established the MA/MSc courses in Digital Music Technology and the Computer Music Laboratory. Attended musical studies at the National Conservatory of Lima, the Rubin Academy - Tel Aviv University and York University (UK), where he obtained a DPhil; studying composition with Abel Ehrlich, John Paynter and Richard Orton. He obtained a BSc in Electrical Engineering from the Israel Institute of Technology. His main activities focus on composition, sonic arts theory and music software development. Compositions have received numerous international performances and broadcasts, and include acoustic, electro-acoustic, interactive, audiovisual and multimedia, and the use of gestures to operate digital controllers in conjunction with multi-channel spatialisation. These are part of the long-term aim to realise Structured interactive immersive Multimedia experiences, in which users advance at their own pace, choosing their own trajectory through a multimedia work but having to act within its structure, rules and constraints.
