Peter Wilson

Peter Wilson is a composer for theatre, film, and concert hall.

Since graduating from the Royal College of Music, he has worked on a diverse range of projects: from concert-music collaborations, to low-budget films, to high-profile theatre and commercial events. The unifying aspect in his output is an interest in the bizarre: in unusual sounds, idiosyncratic ideas, and other-worldly images.

As a composer for concert hall, Peter has worked with the Royal Northern Sinfonia, Loré Lixenberg, Ligeti Quartet, Norrbotten NEO and Gildas Quartet. He is currently an ‘emerging composer’ supported by the Royal Philharmonic Society and, in 2020, will compose a piece for Music in the Round. Peter is an Associate Composer of the University of York Music Press. His music has been recorded and released by NMC Recordings.

For his theatre music, Peter is an ‘Offie’-nominated and Olivier Award-winning composer. He has worked on productions for a number of London’s prominent venues, including the Old Vic, National Theatre, Donmar Warehouse, Soho Theatre, RADA, The Bunker, and VAULT Theatre. He has composed music for documentaries, short films, and installations: most recently scoring the opening video for a Microsoft conference in Washington D.C.

In addition, Peter has worked professionally as a dancer and choreographer of contemporary ballet. He graduated from The Australian Ballet School in 2010, and subsequently performed in productions across Australia, the US, Canada, England, and Germany.

He was described recently as “having a willingness to engage in small, strange details” - a diagnosis Peter quite enjoyed.
