Dario Buccino

Dario Buccino (1968) is a composer, performer, teacher and designer of musical instruments. 

He studied composition at the Milan Conservatory with Irlando Danieli, Adriano Guarnieri, Sandro Gorli, electronic music with Alvise Vidolin and musical analysis with Gianmario Borio at the Civic School of Music in Milan. His training includes studies in the fields of theater, cinema and the performing arts

In the early nineties he developed the HN ® System, a musical system based on the parameterization of bodily and mental performative processes.

His works combine composition, performance art and sound installation, have been commissioned by musicians such as Oscar Pizzo, Marco Rogliano, Mirko Jevtović, Dejana Sekulić, SISU Percussion Ensemble, Ars Ludi, Bernhard Wulff and have been presented at international festivals and institutions such as the La Fenice Theater in Venice, the Milano Musica festival, the Impuls Festival in Graz, the JazzMI festival in Milan, the 1000 Beats festival in Palermo, the Hessisches Landesmuseum in Darmstadt, the Franco Parenti Theater in Milan, the Manzoni Theater in Milan, the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, the Fabbrica Europa festival in Florence, the Curva Minore in Palermo, the Transart festival in Bolzano, the Italian Cultural Institute in Stuttgart, the Beijing Comedy Theater in Beijing, the Oriental Arts Center in Shanghai . 

He created the HN ® Percussions, a family of musical instruments that involve the entire body of the performer in sound creation.

He founded and directs the Ensemble HN, which specializes in the performance of compositions written with the HN System.

His work is the subject of musicological publications, degree theses and documentary films.
