Julia Simpson
Julia Simpson grew up in Dorset and studied composition at Royal Holloway, University of London with John Woolrich and Simon Holt (1995-1999). She has written original scores for theatre productions and has had pieces performed at venues and events such as the Purcell Room, the QEH, Brighton Festival, Hoxton New Music Days and Frampton Village Hall. She has had her work recorded by the Composer's Ensemble and the BBCSO woodwind section (2020).
Julia has a 'miniaturist' style. Her music could be described as macabre; it often involves humour but also has a dark side... There is normally a story or character running through her work.
