Office Assistant (Kickstart scheme)

To apply for this job, you must be claiming Universal Credit and be 16 to 24 years old.
This is a 25 hour-per-week role for a fixed period of 6 months. Closing date 23rd February 2022.

JOB SUMMARY

This is a great opportunity to gain work experience with an award-winning record label, NMC Recordings. NMC is a commercial label and charity dedicated to composers living & working in the UK and Ireland; we also deliver great education projects.

The Office Assistant reports to the Sales & Marketing Manager. This job requires candidates to work mainly from NMC’s office in Bethnal Green in London. However, some duties can be carried out remotely if appropriate – we continue to be committed to the safety of staff while Covid is a factor. Equipment for remote working will be supplied if required.

The area is well-served by public transport, including the London Underground – the office is about 200 metres from Bethnal Green station on the Central Line.

Your main responsibilities are as follows:
- Order fulfilment, including picking, packing & dispatching CDs to customers. Using the office franking machine; making sure the correct postage has been paid for both UK and overseas orders.
- Stockroom management, making sure that our stock room where we keep physical CDs is orderly and tidy, & that stock numbers are correct and up to date.
- Maintaining online Sales sheets, logging and combining sales figures from different sources from across the world; copying sales figures from different sources onto a single online spreadsheet.
- Digital filing - scanning & digitally filing paper contracts so that old paper documents can be archived or destroyed.
- You will be responsible for collecting and distributing or redirecting the post.

In addition, we sometimes need extra help at studio recording sessions. This could mean helping with the studio set-up (chairs, music stands etc), looking after artists, or taking messages.

You will also have the chance to support the Sales & Marketing Manager in planning and executing marketing campaigns, with a focus on social media. Among other things, you will learn how to research individual projects, investigate potential PR interest, create a PR schedule, prepare Press Releases, use social media for PR purposes. You will also have the chance to acquire a basic understanding of Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop and InDesign.)

SKILLS NEEDED
We would expect the successful candidate to have achieved 5 GCSE passes at Grade C or above, including Maths and English.

To be successful, candidates need to demonstrate good computer keyboard skills, good written and spoken communication skills, and good attention to detail.

Knowledge of music is not essential, but candidates who are interested in music are likely to get more from this opportunity, personally and professionally.

NMC seeks to appoint up to three new Trustees. As a Trustee, you will work with Board colleagues and the Executive Team to help us develop and achieve our strategic plans, supporting outstanding music creators, promoting our unique catalogue of over 300 titles to audiences across the globe, and securing our financial future.

We are looking for people who are passionate about the arts who are inspired to join us in the next phase of our 30-year-plus journey to date, at a time of extraordinary opportunity and challenge. As an NMC trustee, you will be exposed to the best in new music, sit alongside experts from all walks of life, and find a new application for your professional skills with a world-renowned music charity

We have three vacancies and seek potential Trustees with specialist knowledge in the following areas:

  • Recording industry, including sync licensing
