Artistic Mission

NMC exists to champion outstanding, risk-taking work by composers based in the UK and Ireland. 

As part of this, we are committed to celebrating composers whose backgrounds are under-represented in our sector. Since 2022 this has resulted in a significant broadening of our catalogue in terms of gender, ethnicty, disability, and other protected characteristics.

The work we release spans a wide range of sounds and practices, from conventional chamber groups and orchestras to sound art and field recordings. This reflects the ways in which composition has come to incoporate an ever-expanding range of techniques and approaches, an evolution which excites and inspires us.
