Recording Proposals

With our small team, we can release around eight CD albums a year. We are interested in proposals for full-length CDs (60-80’) and there are also opportunities for composers to feature on compilation albums and via digital-only releases.

For more information on NMC's current artistic mission and priorities, it is advisable to read our Artistic Strategy

If you would like to submit a recording proposal* for consideration, or to discuss a proposal with us, please check the ‘Pre-application checklist’ below before you complete the online form linked at the bottom of the page.

*We also accept master recordings that you own and can licence recordings already in existence (eg BBC broadcast audio).

Diversity, Equality and Inclusion

Proposals should be submitted digitally via the online form below.  However, if you are unable to complete the form but want to tell us about your work, please contact our Creative Director Ellie at eleanor@nmcrec.co.uk in the first instance. We would be happy to advise you further and to discuss other ways in which you could submit a proposal.

Please note that we release contemporary classical music by composers from Britain and Ireland. We do not sign artists or offer distribution to self-published albums.

Pre-application checklist

  • Does your proposal feature works by a composer(s) born, or resident and working, in Britain and Ireland?
  • Would you describe the music as contemporary classical music? This can include notated music created for traditional forces such as orchestral or chamber music with acoustic instruments; vocal and choral; jazz; sound art; experimental; using electronic elements; as well as music incorporating folk and traditional idioms and instruments.
  • Do you have an online presence via your own website, on social media, Spotify Artist page etc? Would you be happy to collaborate with NMC in promoting your music in this way?
  • Do you have ideas about how to finance the recording? Would you be prepared to apply to funders yourself, with help from the NMC team?
