Arts Award

NMC Recordings is proud to be an Arts Award Supporter.

If you’re aged 11 plus and you’re already doing an Arts Award at school or an Arts Award centre, or you are looking to lead or facilitate guided sessions to contribute towards an Arts Award, then NMC can help. Our range of free to download Education Resources can be used to achieve or contribute towards different goals across the Arts Award levels.

Explore and download all of our Education Resources here.

You can read more about NMC's Education Resources and Arts Award below, by going in depth into each resource:

> what is is
> what guided and independent activity it contains
> how it would help fulfil each Arts Award level

GCSE Composition resource

Works from the NMC catalogue are the starting point for practical lessons and student exercises in our GCSE Music Composition Resource. Written by composer Dr Steven Berryman, this resource provides creative inspiration through exploring music by 6 NMC composers. The resource contains works by 6 NMC composers as examples and starting points for detailed composition tasks, listening exercises and activities for students, to help them in their own composition writing. In addition, we have created Spotify playlists with further listening taken from throughout NMC's catalogue that demonstrate extra examples for each composition element explored in the resource.

Guided activity: This resource comprises 6 guided 'lessons' which should be 1 to 2 hours in duration.

Independent activity: All lessons have open ended creative tasks attached.

The worksheets meet the criteria for an Explore Arts Award by facilitating students in:

> active participation in a range of arts activities, including a personal response about what they have learnt from taking part
> experience of arts organisations, artists and their work
> creating a piece of art work
> identification of what they have enjoyed and/or achieved, and their communication of this to others

For a Bronze Award by:

> developing their interests, knowledge and skills through actively participating in any art form
> researching the career and work of an artist or craftsperson that inspires them

For a Silver Award by:

> identifying and planning an arts challenge
> implementing and reviewing their arts challenge

And for a Gold Award by:

> extending their own arts practice, experiencing another art form and creating new work
> identifying and being involved in the world of the arts through training and research
