Meet the Composers' Academy: Arthur Keegan

Films NMC RecordingsEach year the Philharmonia Orchestra offers a group of talented emerging composers the opportunity to write an original chamber work for an ensemble of Philharmonia players, which is recorded for release by NMC. Meet Arthur Keegan, one of the three rising-star composers featured on Volume 6 of the Composers' Academy, due for release on 27 October.
Arthur's work Back Inside … the second hand on my Casio watch ticked steadily on is a response to an anthology of poems and stories written by comedian Tim Key during lockdown. The poems use witty, absurdist, off-beat imagery to conjure up the uncanny atmosphere of that time, which is reflected in Keegan's surreal and playful music. Find out more in the video below.
