The composers Joanna Bailie and Alex Paxton have both been featured on episodes of Soundmaking podcast, discussing the "how and why" of music they have released on NMC. 

Bailie delves into the creative process behind her piece Souvenir, a haunting recording of her mother's music box which is gradually slowed down and layered with intrumental parts performed by Plus-Minus EnsembleSouvenir was released on Bailie's album Artificial Environmentswhich came out in 2019 as part of our Debut Discs series.

Discussing his track Prayer with Strings and Joan Rivers, Alex Paxton spoke about his compositional process, how he blends notated and improvised approaches and his love of creating music which combines disparate musical styles.
